In New Caledonia, the scuba diving centres are located in the Southern & Northern provinces and the surrounding smaller islands of Lifou, Ouvea and the Isle of Pines.
Some of the scuba Dive Centres are located in the proximity of camping or "gite" style accomodation ie similar to the bed & breakfasts in other parts of the world; while others are located inside large hotels which offer comfortable stays overlooking the large lagoon.
The brand of scuba equipment used is BEUCHAT, AQUALUNG, SCUBAPRO, each of these brands has an authorised dealer in Noumea. Certain Dive Centres use aluminium tanks to dive, but most use steel tanks.
Usually two-tank morning dives are offered, with a fast diving boat (Fibreglass, alloy or inflatable).
One diving operator offers an impressive diving boat "IMPERATOR" - complete diving ship for individuals and groups, 20 m x 6 m; very spacious and comfortable, with toilets, showers, all accommodations and compressors on board. DIVE FOR DAY, DIVE FOR WEEK and EXPEDITIONS are catered for. (Update September 2010 : Leader on the local market for over 18 years, this dive operator is gone and doesn 't operate anymore in New Caledonia).

This chart also regulates the easy working together collectively, to develop the tourism diving industry not only qualitively but in the diversity and richness of our diving destinations, of which the lagoon represents a huge potential for development and preservation. Follow this chart and choose a dive centre that also has ; in contributing to the ongoing of our waters in the interest of everyone.
